Inglefield

Nursing & Residential Home

Charming and elegant Inglefield Nursing Home, a magnificent Victorian building, was once the family home of Lord Beaverbrook, an influential figure in British media and politics in the early 20th Century. The attraction of the area is clear with delightful Totland Bay and seaside village Totland a stone’s throw away.

The Gold Standards Framework

We’re delighted to share that Inglefield has been awarded the prestigious Gold Standards Framework (GSF) accreditation – recognising the team’s outstanding commitment to delivering high-quality, personalised end-of-life care.

This distinguished recognition highlights our team’s outstanding commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and personalised care for residents nearing the end of life. It also places Inglefield among the leading care homes in the country for palliative care standards.

This award firmly establishes Inglefield as the best care home for end-of-life care on the Island, reflecting the dedication, expertise, and heartfelt support our team provides to residents and their families during life’s most sensitive moments.

About the Home

Accommodation

Our bedrooms are regularly refurbished, some of which have access to either patio or veranda facilities. The choice of lounges gives our residents the opportunity to select the environment they wish to be in, whether they are in the mood for company or would prefer to relax in peace, overlooking the landscaped gardens.

Activities

Our wellbeing & activities co-ordinators arrange daily, varied activities for the residents as well as private one-on-one sessions in bedrooms for those who are less mobile. The residents have an excellent social calendar!

Independence is promoted throughout the home and regular visits from friends and family are encouraged and welcomed.

Cuisine

The cuisine at Inglefield is prepared to a high standard. We ensure that our meals are made with the very best, locally sourced ingredients and that they are balanced, providing the right nutrients to keep our residents healthy.

Types of Care

Nursing Care

At many of our homes we provide nursing care for older people with health problems. The care is 24 hours and is delivered by our experienced nursing teams who are both compassionate and professional, ensuring your loved one is looked after at all times.

There is a Registered Nurse on duty at all times, supported by the care staff, who all regularly attend training to keep up-to-date on all levels of care. When needed, our nurses will seek expert advice from visiting practitioners such as chiropodists, GPs and specialist consultants.

Our nursing equipment, such as profiling beds and moving & handling equipment, is updated frequently to ensure we can cater to our nursing residents’ specialist needs in the safest possible way.

We take into consideration each individual’s physical and emotional requirements and do our utmost to create an environment in which our residents feel comfortable and at ease.

Respite Care

Buckland Care homes provide respite care for people who may only require a short stay in a care home. Respite care is an invaluable service for those who care full-time for their loved ones, providing them with a chance to take a break from daily responsibilities.

Some residents use it as a way to trial the home before moving in full term, to see if they will feel settled and at home. The length of time residents stay is flexible and can be anything from a week to a few months. We will work with you and deliver a high level of professional care to all residents no matter how long they are staying with us.

Palliative or End of Life Care

In 2022 Inglefield Nursing Home achieved the national Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Quality Hallmark Award for its delivery of end of life care.

The training provides expert training for frontline staff in health and social care, to enable a ‘gold standard’ of care for people nearing end of life.

Ultimately, we all want to end our lives in quiet dignity, free from pain, in a place where we feel at home. The final stages of a person’s life can be a complicated and emotionally overwhelming experience for the family.

We aim to control pain and ease the suffering of our residents, ensuring that we make their lives as fulfilling as possible through to the end. Buckland Care also provides tailored emotional support and practical guidance for families and friends throughout end of life care.

Residential Care

Residential care is for older people who are finding it increasingly difficult to manage at home without additional help and support.

Residents will not only be supported with personal care but our devoted staff will take over all the everyday tasks of laundry, cooking, gardening and housekeeping, allowing the residents more time to relax and enjoy themselves in a comfortable and safe environment.

It is our priority to make everything as seamless as possible in the moving process so that your loved one maintains their independence, dignity and identity at all times. Choosing the right care home for a loved one can be an overwhelming task and we will be there to support you throughout the whole process.

We encourage friends and family to visit as often as they can and everyone is of course invited to come along to the parties and events we regularly hold for the residents.

At Buckland Care we take time to get to know each resident, tailoring the care we provide to suit each individual person.

Our dedicated team is proud of the facilities available to residents, and work hard to ensure they retain as much independence as possible but rest assured, we will be there 24 hours a day should they need us.

Dementia Care

Choosing a care home for someone living with dementia is a major decision. You need to be sure that your loved one will be in an understanding, nurturing environment with professionals who have the experience and knowledge to safely care for them.

At all Buckland Care homes that is exactly what we offer. We do everything we can to make our residents feel at ease, with tailored features for those living with dementia. Every carer is trained to care for dementia patients and our homes have been adapted to aid those living with a dementia-related illness.

Staff

At Inglefield we have a host of long-standing and dedicated staff, many who have been working at the home for over 15 years. It is this which makes the atmosphere homely and the home run like clockwork.

  • Charlotte Willis
    Registered Manager

Charlotte started off studying Health and Social Care with the Open University and caring for a neighbour.
Once her son, Alfie, had started school she started at a care home where she completed her NVQ level 2, 3 & 5 and worked her way up to Deputy Manager. Charlotte was eager to learn more about nursing care which is when she applied for the Deputy role at Inglefield. After over a year in post Charlotte became Acting Manager.

Charlotte has a keen interest in a person-centred approach to care, with the residents involvement within the care planning process to ensure a 'home from home' environment for the residents.

Family time is important to Charlotte and any days off are spent with her family and Lenny the dog.

  • Primrose Hukuimwe
    Deputy Manager

Primrose, a dedicated and compassionate professional, qualified as a nurse in Zimbabwe in 2014. With experience working in emergency departments, she relocated to the UK in 2020. Shortly after, she joined Inglefield as a staff nurse, quickly progressing to the role of clinical lead, and ultimately, Deputy Manager.

Passionate about person-centered care, Primrose focuses on providing dignified end-of-life care for residents. In her spare time, she enjoys watching documentaries and cooking. Committed to her personal and professional growth, Primrose aspires to further her education and skills to better support both residents and staff within the company.

  • Sally Pullen
    Administrator

Sally joined Inglefield in September 2022, receiving a warm welcome from colleagues, residents, residents family and friends and has settled in happily as ‘part of the family’. For the past 12 years Sally has worked as a Service Manager for a local independent Garage. She moved from London nearly twenty years ago after visiting family and falling in love with island life and its surrounding scenery! Sally has a strong administration and customer focused background, having worked predominately in the residential and commercial property sector for financial investment companies. She lives close by with her two children and husband who is a local Joiner and they enjoy spending time exploring the beautiful Island together.

It is appropriate to identify the entire team as delivering first class, professional and extremely compassionate approach to helping my mother.... I cannot express enough the high level of service provided by everyone and this is a testament to the ethos of your organisation.

🌸 Sweet Treats & Word Games at Inglefield! 🍬Our residents had a busy, creative (and delicious!) day today.First up, we put our baking skills to the test—without even turning on the oven! Everyone chipped in to make a batch of No-Bake Licorice Allsorts Slice. It was a total sensory blast of bright colors, nostalgic smells, and plenty of "quality control" taste tests along the way. 😋🍰After working up an appetite, we slowed things down with a favorite tabletop classic: Scrabble! But with a little spring twist—our residents used the letter tiles to spell out their favorite flowers, sharing memories of old gardens, favorite blooms, and sunny days. 🌷🌼 ... See MoreSee Less
